2nd August 2009

Following a week of almost interminable rain, the sun made it’s way to Southampton on Sunday 2nd August for the Southampton Club National Race. The sun was joined by a small representation of the usual suspects from Hemel Ski Race Club – just 4 racers – 2 of which achieved a podium finish – receiving their medals from Martin Bell.

The fastest Hemel skier of the day was Yasmin Cooper, who stormed to victory in the female CH1 category, taking first place with a time of 25.27 seconds. In the Mini’s category, having not competed for several weeks, Georgia Keys skied into third place.

After a week of Alpine training, Alex White easily re-found his ‘plastic’ legs and achieved 4th place in CH1, and Tony Sharp also achieved 4th in Masters 2.
