All England - Norfolk 2010

A small contingent from Hemel Ski Racing Club attended the 2010All England Championships held at Norwich. Overall there was a good turn out, with over 200 racers competing. The males found the courses tough, with anyone coming incorrectly into key parts of the courses struggling, resulting in 19 failing on the first course and 35 on the second.

Despite the low numbers of Hemel racers attending, the club had a successful day with : Yasmin Cooper the All England Champion for CH1 and 11th overall in the females,
Josh Penning-Lambert 3rd in CH1 and 60th overall in the Males, and James Grant the All England Champion for Junior 1 with 6th place overall in the males.

Grand Prix

Prizes for the SnowSports England Grand Prix series were also awarded at Norwich. There were 5 races in the series this year, 2 indoor and 3 outdoor with the entry criteria that racers must have less than 400? Barts Seed points..
A very small field of Hemel Race Club members raced in the series with great success showing that the club can still be successful on both indoor and outdoor surfaces:

Tom Grant – 2nd Children 2 Male.
James Grant – Grand Prix Champion, Junior 1 Male
Gerard Flahive – Grand Prix Champion, Junior 2 Male , 2nd Overall Male.
Kerry Turnock – 3rd Masters Female
Barney Lewis – 3rd Junior 1 Male

All England Inter club challenge.

Hemel were only able to raise one team for the Inter-club challenge comprising Morgan Rota, Tom Grant, James Grant and Gerard Flahive. Unfortunately they were unable to progress beyond the rounds into the knock-out stages, but enjoyed a fantastic atmosphere of high quality dual slalom racing. This event is a great spectacle with the countries top racers being cheered on by their clubs and friends at one of the best maintained slopes.
