Over the past few weeks we have been gathering together names of junior racers interested in continuing with the Saturday afternoon Development Group at Gostling Ski Centre, Welwyn (GSC).

About 20 or so have expressed an interest so far; if you would like to add your details then please contact us via this site.

It is intended to start the sessions from 29 March 2008; e mails will be sent out giving further details. As previously, the session will run from 2.30 to 4.00pm.

As these sessions are being organised by the Club, it will be necessary to pay a representative before starting the session. They in turn will pay GSC under the agreement we have with them. It is hoped that costs will be kept to no more than that currently paid (hopefully a little less)

It will also be necessary, and we trust desirable, for you to join the Club for the year.

Nick Warmington from the committee will be acting as support to the Development Group during their time at GSC; the current regular trainers, Paul Fraylich and Steve Cooper will continue to run the sessions.

Plans for the Group will include the development of skills, safety awareness and any early appreciation of ski racing technique; above all though the sessions will continue to be fun! They will act as the feeder into the Club’s regular training sessions on weekday evenings (Mondays usually).

Please be aware however that this progression is limited by age (minimum of 7 years) and by ability / maturity. Progression is by invitation only, based on the assessment of the training team. However, it is quite possible to join band of racers representing Hemel in the ERSA Summer League whilst developing skills in the Development Group; at least two are entering their second season of this series!
