Following the announcement of Chris Shelly’s appointment to Members Director last week SSE would like to confirm the process that led to the appointment. Nominations had been open for 1 month from the 16th October to the 16th November. While a of members interested it ended up with only one nomination coming forward for the role of members Director. So Chris Shelly was appointed. Chris will under go an induction process and will be in touch with all members and clubs in the New Year.
Chris has been involved in competitive snowsports since his children raced on the UK slope circuit, and since then he has been on both local and regional Snowsport England committees. Chris is chairman of the ERSA RTP.
Chris said of his appointment: “I strongly believe that skiing and snowboarding are sports with growth potential in the UK. I would like to see Snowsport England and snowsports have a stronger profile in England. We need to work hard to make people think of snowsports as an activity that they can enjoy and excel at within England.
“I want to work with Snowsport England to ensure the resources and structures are in place to allow those with the potential to reach the top can do so, as well as allowing everyone of all abilities, ages and backgrounds to participate in and enjoy snowsports.”
Chris brings a range of wide skills to the role including experience of governance, financial management, marketing and leadership. Chris has headed up companies as CEO and lists communication and organisation as two of his strongest skills.
