Hemel CN and LSSR 2016 – Medal Success for Hemel Skiers

The Hemel Skiers were very busy this weekend.  On Saturday 170+ skiers took part in the Hemel Club National at the Snow Centre. Thanks to Tara for her report.

The following Hemel members achieved podium success.  Holly Tutt (U10), Alfie Parker (U10), Abbie Parker (U12), Joshua Barefoot (U12), Olivia Herries (U14), Emily Mcleish (U14), Charlotte Warne (U14), Eleanor Scranage-Harrison (U16), Charlotte Tapsell (U16), Alice Mcleish (U18), Kara Harrison (U21), Judy Reid (MAS), Karen Coles (MAS), Avelline Deighton (MAS), Julie Monnery (SEN), Byron Appleton (U16), Dexter Lee (U18), Piers Bellman (U18), Harry Boty (U21), John Urquhart (MAS), Chris Phippen (MAS), Anthony Sharp (MAS).

A special mention should go to the two fastest Hemel Skiers of the day. Eleanor Scranage-Harrison fastest girl of the day, beating much older rivals to the title and Byron Appleton 2nd fastest boy of the day, narrowly loosing to Oliver Weeks of Midlands Ski Club.

gil_girls_lssrOn Sunday Hemel racers were triumphant again, with many members representing their schools at the London Schools Ski Race, organised by Hemel Chairman, Dominic McGonigal.

The Hemel racers were in fine form. Maddy Fairfull was part of the winning team Yr 2 -4 team competing for South Hampstead HS.  Lily, Danielle and Zara Hawkins took the overall title for the Yr 10-13 girls category.

nhsAnd Hemel Skiers Issy Lander and Emily Mcleish were part of the New Hall SchoolTeam that won the girls dual slalom after a tense final against Hemel skiers Carys Boty, Nia Boty, Charlotte Blyth and Bea Barder, racing for their school STAGS.


A big thank you for to all the volunteers that made this weekend possible.
