This was held at Welwyn, Teams from ERSA, LSERSA and SRSA met to compete for this fun event. The Tri Regions was started about 5 years ago to compensate for the lack of interest in the Inter Regional. Since then it has grown in stature and enjoyment. 8 teams, comprising of 5 racers. The event is divided up into 4 leagues of 8 teams. From this the top two in each league progress to the main competition, the next two to the plate and the final 2 into the shield. Therefore all racers will get a minimum of 8 runs in competition. ERSA were defending their title from last year against some other very good teams. Hemel members took part in most of the ERSA teams and some even represented, by agreement, other regions.
In the Shield ERSA (H) were placed 1st. The plate saw ERSA (E) finish 1st beating ERSA (D) in the final. In the Main competition ERSA teams A, B, and C progressed into the knockout stage. Unfortunately in Round 1 ERSA A were drawn against ERSA B, one team had to go. ERSA A progressed in a tight race. ERSA A eventually went onto the final and were narrowly piped by the very strong team of LONDON A into 2nd place. All in all a very good and enjoyable days competition.
Sunday saw the last race of the ERSA Summer League, 175 racers from the region turned up at Brentwood for the Essex Ski Race Club Race. 22 Hemel members made the journey down the M25 to Wharley Gap, just outside Brentwood. The course, using the long side of the slope, was set by Carl Reeder and Foo Troung from the Vikings. 14 gates with 14 turns. After the Individual team events were held, Hemel entered the Children’s, Open A and B Events. Those not taking part in the Teams were entered into the Stampede.
