Races this weekend were held by Midlands Ski Club and Gloucester Race Academy. Two clubs but one location, both races took place at Gloucester. A good entry for both events. Midlands started the weekend with their Club National. The course was set by Midlands Trainer, Guy Hornsby. The U12/10’s were treated to two separate races (4 runs) through the stubbies with the best of each pair to count to find the overall winners. Hemel only had one member compete, Emma TRUST finished 5th in the U12 girls in both Race 1 and Race 2.
The ladies competed on the same set of gates with fulkl poles. Charlotte TAPSELL with 3 consistent runs was 1st in the U14 girls and finished 8th overall. Nicole SHERING matched Charlotte by finishing 1st in the U18 but two places adrift in 10th overall. Lilly and Zara HAWKINS finished 0.03 seconds apart and were place 4th and 5th in the U14. Sister Danielle HAWKINS was very close behind in 9th position. Ali WANG was 2nd MAS. Ellie Orchard did not complete R1 or R2 and was not ranked. In the boys/mens race Thomas GRANT, now finished exams was the highest placed Hemel member in 7th overall and 3rd in the U21 age group. Oliver WELLS in the same group was 9th. Toby CASE continues a consistent standard in his first year of the main competitions and finished 2nd U14 boy and 28th overall. Alex TRUST finished 14th in the tough U16 category. Charles Humphries DSQ R3 so was not placed. Matt Wang and Byron Appleton did not complete the required number of runs.
The following day saw the Gloucester Race take place, unfortunately a good slope but only the best seeding points can be taken from the same venue. Racers were competing to see what was going to be their best day. The course of 21 gates was set by Richard Lambden. In the u12 girls Emma TRUST went one better than the previous day being place 4th in the U12 girls. The stubbies were replaced with 21 full gates and the ladies competed on the same set. Nicole SHERING racing Bib no 1 was 1st in the U16 age group, this placed her 7th overall. Charlotte TAPSELL dropped one position to 2nd in the U14, still placed though 11th overall. Alison WANG was 1st MAS, 29th overall. Ellie Orchard dnf Run 3. In the mens event Olly WELLS was the highest Hemel member finishing 4th U21, 12th overall. Toby CASE once agin was placed 2nd in the U14, climbed up one place from yesterday finishing 27th overall. Charlie HUMPHEYS had a much better day finishing in 19th spot in the U14 boys. He was very closely followed by Alex TRUST and Matt WANG in 63rd and 64th positions. Thomas Grant after a good second run lying in the top 10 dnf Run 3. Also Byron Appleton was dsq run 3 so was not placed.
