Two major events of the summer calendar took place last weekend, up in Manchester saw the British Indoor Championships following on from the British Outdoor Championships at Norfolk the week before. The other event was the ERSA “Plastic” and “Snow” championships.
Both these events saw the top racers from the region and nationally compete.
The ERSA champs also took place this weekend and tested both abilities by holding a two part event. Saturday was the plastic element and Sunday the Snow element of the event.
On Saturday at Welwyn Sophie Gibson came 1st in the girls U10 group. The Under 12 girls saw a clean sweep for Hemel with Eleanor Scranage Harrisson, Nia Boty and Harriet Warmington being placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, Katie Barder was placed 4th. In the U14 Lydia Bradley came 5th. The U16 girls again saw a clean sweep for Hemel with Elise Snow, Eleanor Trew and her twin, Isobel coming 1, 2 and 3.
In the boys dry slope race Charlie Newton and Alfie Turner were placed 8th and 9th in the U12 age group. In the U14 William Newton came 7th. In the U18 boys Harry Boty was just outside the award winners being placed 4th. In the Senior event Georgie Hunt proved he is the one to beat by coming 1st overall.
Sunday saw the Snow element of the Champs, as to be expected many more entries from Hemel as opposed to the very few at Welwyn. In the U10 girls Romanna Bardetti was placed 1st and Holly Arlott came 2nd. In the U10 boys Thomas Beglin came 3rd. In the girls even Hemel disd exceptionally well by taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the U12, U14 and U16 age groups.

The Under 18 girls saw again podium finishers from Ella O’Neil, 1st, and Julia Chmieloweska 2nd. Helena Pickford was place 2nd in the U21 ladies, Anna Tutt 1st in the MA1 group and Hayley De Villars 4th in the MA2 age group.
On Saturday at the British Indoor Championships Shanna Danenbergsons was placed 3rd in the U14 age group. Caterina Magenes was placed 6th in the same group. Alison Wang stepped onto the podium again, 2nd place with Aveline Deighton being placed 3rd in the MAS age group.
In the male event Robert Trebilcock came 3rd overall and 2nd in the U21’s. Thomas Grant managed to get in two good runs and finished 3rd in the very tough U18 age group. Will Wheeler finished 5th in the same tough group. Josh Penning Lambert was placed a very credible 2nd in the U16’s, chased closely by Daniel Barton who came 4th, Toby Deighton 11th. Richard Warmington was 9th in the U18 and Alex White 10th. John Norris once again podiumed by being placed 3rd in the MAS group, Harry Deighton and Dexter Lee came 5th and 6th respectively in the U14’s. Matt Wang was placed just outside the award winners and finished 4th in the MAS group.
