NOR and VIK Club National Races Two races within the ERSA region took place this weekend, a not so sunny weekend in East Anglia saw Norwich and Ipswich hosting Club National Events. Once again a very good turnout from National Racers for the two ERSA races saw 140+ entries for the NOR CN and 180+ entries for the VIK event. A few members from HEM made the trip to the East. The event at NOR started later than normal to allow those travelling more time in the morning thus reducing the need for a night stop the day before, this was well received.
In the NOR CN Holly Clarke was placed 5th in the Girls U12 event. Disappointingly we had no entries in the Boys event. In the main event Eleanor Trew came 3rd in the U16 as did Alison Wang in the MAS event.. Issy Trew had two very good runs but unfortunately DNF Run 3. In the main male event one of the countries top coaches and also a Hemel member, Marc Telling, took 4th place in the very tough SEN age group. (Note: more training needed, Marc’s words). A long time member of HEM but now skiing for his university, James Grant, was 1st in the U21. Joshua Penning Lambert came 1st in the U16 group and Richard Trew was placed 4th in the U14. Callum Clarke was 10th.
On the Sunday the circus moved South and East to Ipswich, still cold but the cake stalls, BBQ and general friendliness of the Vikings saw us through the day. 181 racers on the start list from around the country arrived for an earlier start than the day before. This was the biggest turnout for a VIK CN since the club started hosting the CN series. Only 3 under 12’s took part but we could not ask for better results from our Under 12’s (Note: NOT Mini’s). Eleanor Scranage-Harrision was placed 1st in the Girls event whereas Toby Case continued his unbeaten run by again coming 1st in the Boys competition. Unfortunately Holly Clarke after being place 3rd in the first two runs blew out in Run 3.
In the main female event Ali Wang was again placed 3rd. In the male competition Marc Telling was placed one higher than the day before and came 3rd in the SEN age grouop. Again a really tough race. Richard Trew was placed 6th in the U14’s. Two good runs from Joshua Penning Lambert and Matt Wang were to no avail after DNF’s in Run 3,
