Races April 19 & 20 – Ben Nevis and Gloucester (SSW)

imageThe final snow race of the season saw the Sottish FIS races take place at Ben Nevis, Scotland. The conditions were pretty good for this time of the year, sunny with a temperature of 0c. Out of racing retirement skiing his less favoured event, Slalom, one of our trainers, Matt THOMPSON finished the competition in 3rd position. The ladies slalom was cancelled. The races on the 20th saw two more slalom FIS races. The ladies event only had 6 entrants. The men were slightly more with 14 on the start list. Matthew THOMPSON was consistent and placed 3rd.

The artificial season kicked of this weekend with SSW holding their club event at Gloucester, Hemel members, now competing for their artificial club, HEM, put up a good show. One of the foremost dry slopes in the country, Gloucester has a race slope of 180m. Just over 100 entries took part in the event. This included the U12/10 competing through the stubby course. Results will be posted when available.
