Hemel Ski Race Club member Seb Ison won SILVER in the GB National SX Championships in Laax, Switzerland, last week. Competing against much older and more experienced racers, Seb set the fastest qualifying time and was seeded No1 in the knock-out rounds. Making his way easily through to the Big Final, Seb had a phenomenal start, putting him into the lead, but a lack of race experience allowed the eventual winner through on the inside of a berm with no chances for Seb to go back in front. As a consolation, Seb won GOLD in the U18 category. It was just rewards after a steep learning curve in Seb’s first International SX season, and has provided a valuable benchmark for how much Seb has progressed in a very short time. One last race in Sweden this weekend with the hope of continued progress and a goods FIS points score.
