HEMEL SKI RACING CLUB

Hemel Ski Race Club

Hemel Ski Racing Club has a membership of about 130 racers and a large number of active parents. It is one of the most respected and foremost clubs in the country. New members are always welcome provided the minimum age and ability requirements are met. Race Club meets on a Monday night between 6.00 pm and 8.00pm (depending on level) but the normal route into the race club for skiers under the age of 15 is to first attend the "Race Development Group" held at Hemel Ski Centre on Saturday afternoons between 2.30pm and 4.00pm.

At "race development" sessions prospective race club members are taught the basics of ski racing in an easy, fun atmosphere but more importantly they are taught the need for safety and awareness. The sessions are taken by Hemel Ski Race Club trainers. When the skier has reached the required standard in ability and maturity they are then invited to attend a "taster" evening at the race training sessions held on a Monday night. At this session they will be integrated into a training group. These groups are broadly based on ability and age and are continuously reviewed by the Chief Coach and Trainers.

For more information see the "New Members" page. NB: It is a race club and ski centre requirement that helmets are worn for racing and race training. These are available from the ski centre for hire free of charge. The Club has recently introduced a new category of membership called Non Training Membership Click for details.
